Federal Minister for Water and Power Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that the government would shortly take some important decisions with regard to the construction of new water reservoirs in the country.

Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, Sherpao said that parliamentary committee on water resources will give a presentation to President General Pervez Musharraf in next few days.

The technical committee is likely to submit its interim report in August and, afterward, decision will be taken about construction of new water reservoirs.

Under a new system, different rates of tariff is being fixed for distribution companies of Wapda, however, the government will ensure that no discrimination is made in this regard, he added.

To a question, he ruled out any possibility of holding mid-term elections in the country and said that the present assemblies will complete its tenure.

"We are going to reorganise our party as part of a preparations for next local bodies elections," he added. He said that Pervez Musharraf is an elected President and he is part of the parliament system, therefore, we are supporting his policies.

To another question, he said that late Ziaul Haq was also an elected President in uniform. He said that the government and opposition have consensus that President Musharraf can remain in uniform till the end of this year.

He claimed that his party is the real People's Party and have nothing to do with Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
